The art of wine-growing

Hill-slopes were selected in an empirical manner by humans.
Access to means of transport also determined the historic implantation of vineyards along valleys and rivers, receiving optimal sunshine and, sometimes, with highly specific conditions, as can be seen in the development of noble rot.

The dimension of the plots tells us about the age of a vineyard, the difficulty of working it and the success of creating market value for its products. The landscapes could resemble a single entity stretching as far as the eye can see or a mosaic of vineyards, more or less complicated according to the relief.

The vineyards pigment the landscape with green at the beginning of the season, then yellow, orange and red at the end of the season.
